Jack Jacobsen: Co-Founder of Checkmate COVID
Jack, along with two longtime friends James and Felix, started checkmate COVID in the Spring of 2020 just after the COVID pandemic sent students home from schools and the country into lockdown. The idea came from virtual chess matches between the friends and the boys’ desire to aid in the fight against the virus. Jack cares deeply about civic engagement and serving his fellow human beings.
Combining his drive for public service with his interest in politics, Jack has been a member of Glide Memorial’s advocacy program on social justice as well. Additionally, Jack is very involved at his high school as captain of the debate team and basketball team. He has been selected as an attendee for California Boys State and as an intern at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s office. In his leisure time, Jack loves to fish with his brothers and watch Golden State Warriors basketball games.
